Problem
In research and development where ease of use is required, small and affordable experimental furnaces are commonly used. However, the workpieces must be adjusted to fit the effective internal dimensions (uniform temperature zone) of the equipment, which leads to limitations in experiments.
Solution
We have redesigned our proprietary Moldatherm heater to optimize it for the furnace body, reviewing the insulation structure, shape, and heater output distribution. In addition, we have expanded the temperature uniformity area by optimizing the location of temperature control points and the number of control zones. As a result, the effective heating volume has been significantly increased.
Results
-
1. Expanded application range for experiments
- The application range for experiments has been expanded to include heat treatment of large-size workpieces and the simultaneous processing of multiple tests.
- Effective internal heating dimensions of the furnace:
[Conventional model] W200 x H200 x D200 mm ⇒ [New model] W200 x H200 x D400 mm
(200% increase compared to our conventional model)
-
2. Improved efficiency of the heat treatment process*
- It has become possible to increase the number and volume of workpieces at one time in experiments and sample production, enabling reduced lead times and running costs.
*The degree of efficiency varies depending on the compatibility between the effective internal heating
dimensions of the furnace and the size of the workpieces.
