Problem

Degreasing is an indispensable process in manufacturing ceramic products. Although decomposition behavior of the binder can be checked by thermogravimetric measurements, etc., the conditions while measuring are different from those at the time of production. Therefore, the same behavior may not be observed in actual production, and repeated trial and error was necessary to find the optimum processing conditions.

Solution

We have developed the system that constantly measures the CO2 concentration of exhaust gas during the degreasing process in combination with heat treatment equipment and exhaust gas treatment system.
The CO2 concentration analysis provides information on the binder decomposition state.

Results

(1)Binder decomposition behavior can be checked on the equipment used for production.

(2)The timing of the completion of degreasing can be determined, and the man-hours required to find the treatment conditions can be greatly reduced.

(3)Useful for reviewing treatment conditions already in operation. Productivity can be improved, if processing time is shortened by reviewing.
